14 DAY TRIAL // Lady Gaga has a brand new album coming soon and, as with everything Gaga, hype is starting to build up about it. Akon says he’s heard the entire material and if there’s anything he can say about it that it will be huge, because it’s “amazing.”
Speaking with MTV News just recently, Akon has revealed that he’s one of the few to have heard Gaga’s upcoming studio material, though he wouldn’t say whether he too will be included on it on some capacity or another.
What he does say, though – repeatedly – is how amazing the whole thing sounds. For an artist like Gaga, who already has some of the best selling tracks out there, it’s hard to top herself. But she just did it.
“Well, Gaga and her follow-up, I’ve definitely heard [it], and what I can really tell you about it is the fact that I’m excited – and I’m hard to excite,” Akon says.
With Gaga, it can be her very own larger than life public persona that works against her whenever she tries something new. After all, they don’t say that “the bigger they are, the harder they fall” for nothing, the star believes.
“My big question was like, ‘Wow, how are you going to outdo yourself on this one? Do you realize how big you are? Do you know how big you really are? How are you going to outdo yourself?’” Akon says.
Apparently, Gaga has no problem outdoing herself – and she’s just done it with “Born This Way,” a material she once described as darker, more bitter and more political than anything she’s done so far.
“She’s very creative. She will always find a way, always. Honestly, I think these are just appetizers as to what’s to come, because what’s to come, if you haven’t been following her up to this point, you’re going to get completely lost,” Akon says.
“From what I've heard so far, I think she’s going to be all right. […] Once the sound was created [with the first album] and established, now we can use that as a tool to grab all the monsters and walk them down this graveyard. It’s crazy. It’s amazing,” Akon further dishes about the album.
He’s not the first star to praise Gaga for material that her fans (the “monsters,” as she calls them) haven’t yet heard, since Sir Elton John also spoke highly of her in a recent interview.
As a fun fact, word in the blogosphere has it that Akon hasn’t heard one single beat off “Born This Way” and that he’s only talking big because he’s hoping for a future Lady Gaga collaboration. That’s just an unconfirmed rumor, of course.
