Lady Gaga, dressed in nothing but her underwear and brandishing two machine guns in a very intimidating, war-like pose, is staring at you on the cover of the latest issue of Rolling Stone magazine. Inside the mag, the singer offers fans details about her upcoming album, whose name she’ll reveal on New Year’s Eve and which she plans to release in early 2011, E! Online informs.

Gaga’s third studio material was initially supposed to arrive in music stores sometime in 2010, but the success of “The Fame Monster” and the decision to go on a tour to support it eventually made her realize she would only be rushing things if she stuck to the initial game plan. Still, that’s not to say that she hasn’t been working on new music – and her latest interview is proof of that. Gaga’s next material will be more bitter, more political and more aggressive, but will still maintain the glamorous pop “wrapping” of her previous albums.

“I think I’m gonna get the album title tattooed on me and put out the photo. I’ve been working on it for months now, and I feel very strongly that it’s finished right now. It came so quickly. Some artists take years; I don’t. I write music every day,” Gaga says. The album, as she makes it clear herself, is done, which means the finishing touches are being added to it as we speak. After announcing its name on New Year’s Eve, Gaga will see to that it is released at a yet unspecified date in 2011.

As for what will make it more political, Gaga says one of the predominant themes is a matter close to her heart: the military and the gays. “Why are we still talking about ‘Don’t ask, don’t tell?’ It’s like, what [expletive]ing year is it? It makes me crazy! And I have been for three years baking cakes – and now I’m going to bake a cake that has a bitter jelly. The message of the new music is now more bitter than it was before. Because the sweeter the cake, the more bitter the jelly can be,” the singer explains.

Until the new album comes though, fans can still catch Gaga on tour. The North American leg of the Monster Ball Tour kicks off on June 28. On September 19, it wraps in Raleigh, N.C., after which Gaga will head to Europe with it. For more on the upcoming album, make sure you keep an eye on this space.
