Lady Gaga is a well accomplished and versatile performer, which is why fans have been patiently waiting for the Monster Ball, in support of her latest album, “The Fame Monster,” to kick off. On Saturday night, Gaga and her dancers, together with countless stage outfits one wilder than the other, reached Toronto, Canada, where the singer officially kicked off the tour at the Air Canada Center, the Toronto Sun informs.

The venue was packed, with excitement and anticipation being clearly felt in the air that was breathed. Gaga came on stage at the appointed hour and, after a few words, got right down to business, performing, one by one, both her most popular songs and those included on the new album. All in all, the tour proves to be a very elaborate affair that makes for a very entertaining way to pass the time, in the company of one of the most appreciated and original artists of our times.

Costumes were, as expected, a very significant part of the first show. “More eye-catching costumes game in the form of a black feathered jacket for the new song ‘Monster,’ with dance moves reminscent of Michael Jackson, and, and a gold Cleopatra-like crown and matching body suit for ‘Fashion’ and ‘The Fame.’ She also wore bondage-inspired black leather gear for ‘Boys Boys Boys’ and donned multiple blond braid extensions, a la Rapunzel, for ‘Paparazzi’,” says the aforementioned publication.

The night was not without its very emotional moment, when Gaga sat down at the piano to sing “Speechless,” the song she wrote for her father, who was also in the audience. Recalling how he had been sick, Lady Gaga could barely hold back the tears, with many members in the audience following suit and giving vent to emotion. “About a month ago, I thought I was going to have to quit music because of my Dad but now I don’t have to. C’mon sing along with me. I don’t know if I’m going to get all the words out. ‘Cause you guys are so amazing. I’m just going to sit here and cry for the rest of the show,” the singer said.

All in all, fans recall that, not long ago, after she called off the joint tour with Kanye West (who decided he needed a break after cutting short Taylor Swift’s VMA acceptance speech and embarrassing herself), Lady Gaga promised she would make of the Monster Ball one of the most “delicious” tours there ever was. She more than delivers on that promise, early reviews guarantee.
