Lady Gaga kicked off her Monster Ball tour, doing her best to make sure that it was, as she promised not long ago, the most “delicious” tour the music industry has ever seen. There were plenty of costume changes and more than enough theatricality, good singing and plenty of interaction with the fans. As MTV also puts it, there was also an awkward tumble that Gaga, nevertheless, brushed off like a real pro.

The first fall – as reports say it actually happened three times during the same night – occurred as Gaga entered in the dance routine for “Teeth,” one of the tracks off “The Fame Monster” album. The stage was very slippery (or, at least, so it seems in the video below), and Gaga herself was wearing very high heels, which made it rather difficult for her to keep her balance.

“Even the always-put-together Lady Gaga wasn’t immune to a lack of traction. Her Monster Ball tour kicked off in Montreal last night (November 29), and as promised, it was a fantastically theatrical, over-the-top production that featured incredible costumes (including one outfit made entirely out of firearms) and muscular dancing. But at the beginning of ‘Teeth’ (the excellent, tough final track on the new EP The Fame Monster), Gaga fell into formation with her dancers... and then fell down. Since she’s a consummate professional, so she got right back up and picked up the choreography where she left off,” MTV says.

However, for the remainder of the song, it seemed as if Gaga was holding back and no longer risking anything with the slippery stage. And she was right to do so, by all accounts, other reports in the US media indicate. According to them, Gaga fell two times more, which prompted her to joke at one point in the evening that, “I’m like a drunk model – and I LOVE it!”

Fall or no fall, all signs point to the tour turning out to be a hit, both in terms of critical reception and sales, as we also reported the other day. Below is the video of Gaga falling flat on her backside in the middle of “Teeth” and then springing back to her feet as if nothing had happened. Enjoy.
