This is the day when LG's Venus phone makes its US release after a long time of waiting and taunting. The handset look to refresh LG's mobile phone offer and bring an alternative to the older models that they brought out.

LG Venus looks to stand out at any expense and does this by taking the highly popular touchscreen performance that many evolved mobile phones now rely on and use it with its navigation keypad. The phone has a design highly similar to that of the LG Chocolate phone, which turned out as being a huge success some while ago. It's the same smooth, shiny case with slightly rounded corners and innovative touch sensitivity.

LG Venus looks to bring a sexy alternative to all previous combinations of touchscreen and keypad. Placing a secondary screen under the main one and using it for navigation is something that few other handset producers have had the courage of trying. This might just be enough to take the device out of the crowd and make it special enough to reach huge sales rates.

The phone also packs a 2 megapixel camera, although there's nothing extraordinary in this. There is also a microSD card slot included, which should manage to bring all the needed space for storing personal files. The slider will come in pretty thick sizes, at 16 mm, although that's within reasonable bounds. It also packs Bluetooth and USB connectivity, as to make the package complete. Moreover, LG Venus is a GPS enabled handset, a feature that many people will surely grow fond of having at hand.

LG Venus will be available from now on at Verizon Wireless in the colors of black and pink, for the price of USD 200, on a two-year contract. That's a pretty good deal, especially for those who can't put a price tag on sexiness and fashionable mobile phones.
