Many products have been said to be the world's greatest at one thing or another over the years, and since size is one of the prime assets of high-end TV sets, LG did its best to shine in this area, going so far as to even claim leadership.

As end-users well know, the LED-backlit LCD TV market includes some of the most advanced displays that consumers could ever get their hands on.

Top-grade panels have to make sure they possess not just good resolutions and color sharpness, as well as brightness, but also energy efficiency and large enough screen sizes to even boggle the mind.

Of course, as with all market segments, there was to be one product that stands above all the rest.

In the case of LED-backlit LCD TVs with support for 3D, LG claims to own the largest panel so far, one featuring the TruMotion 400Hz technology.

Dubbed LZ9700, the product was revealed back in the first half of December and is set to be demonstrated at the 2011 International CES.

This display is said to be the world's largest LED-backlit LCD 3D TV, as its screen diagonal has a length of a full 72 inches.

"The LZ9700 combines the ultimate in LG's picture quality with our latest developments in 3D TV," said Mr. Havis Kwon, President and CEO of LG Home Entertainment Company.

"With the LZ9700, LG is poised to take the lead in the TV market with the world’s largest FULL LED screen that delivers a truly outstanding TV viewing experience," he added.

For those seeking more specifications, the panel can stream via DLNA and USB, as well as Media Link, via the Smart Share technology.

Other details include the Magic Motion Remote Control and the Smart TV function, the latter playing a part in granting access to more content than is customary for TV sets. Availability is scheduled for early 2011.
