Lately, HDTV manufacturers have entered into a race to see who can build and bring to market the biggest 3D TV, LG Electronics just announcing their contender for the title, the 72-inch LZ9700 that should make its appearance in the first quarter of 2011.

Coming in at 59 inches wide and 40 inches tall, the LZ9700 is certainly going to be a behemoth of a 3D TV, larger than anything that made its way onto the market before it.

But this is only part of what LG is offering with the LZ9700 as this HDTV comes with all the latest features that one would expect from a top of the line model, including LED back-lighting with local dimming, a TruMotion 400 Hz render engine, DLNA compatibility as well as a magic motion remote control.

Furthermore, the unit also comes with network connectivity enabling its users to enjoy YouTube video streaming, picture viewing via Google's Picasa service as well as a wide variety of Yahoo! TV Widgets, all these and more being made possible by the NetCast Broadband TV technology.

"The LZ9700 combines the ultimate in LG's 3D picture quality with our latest developments in connectivity and smart technology," said Mr. H.S. Paik, president of LG Electronics Gulf.

"With the LZ9700, LG is poised to take the lead in the 3D TV market with a clearer, bigger screen that delivers a truly outstanding 3D experience."

As far as availability goes, the LZ9700 is bound to hit UAE and all GCC markets in the first quarter of 2011, for an undisclosed price.

Unfortunately, LG's press release didn't state anything about the TV's availability outside of the Middle East region, although this looks remarkably similar to the 72LEX9 which we covered a while back, the 72LEX9 being expected to arrive sometime in Q2 2010 in Europe and the US.
