Sexy. Or maybe just weird

The mobile division of LG Electronics probably wanted for years to create a really unique mobile phone, and it seems that it finally managed to do so. Today, the South Korean producer released LG SH240, a handset that looks like a normal slider if you just look at it. But if you also touch it you'll know that the device is actually a bit more than a usual one.

What makes LG SH240 special is the silicon material used to cover its keypad and its control pad. This texture simulates real skin, so whenever users interact with the phone they will feel a soft skin-like touch instead of plastic, rubber, metal or any other materials generally used when manufacturing keypads.

For the moment we can't say if touching the SH240 slider gives you a nice feeling or just a weird one, as the phone is only released in South Korea and there are little chances for it to come in Europe or North America. However, it's clear that LG wants to attract the world's attention with this handset.

Aside from the skin-like cover, LG SH240 also comes with chrome margins, a pretty decent display (its resolution is unknown yet), HSDPA for high-speed data transfers and Internet browsing, Bluetooth connectivity, Music player, built-in maps, various dictionaries and a 2 Mexapixel camera with video. Other details, like the handset's internal memory, battery life time or operating system (if any) remain unrevealed.

LG SH240 will soon be commercially available in South Korea for a retail price of 400,000 KRW, which means about $400 or 260 Euro - a fair price considering the phone's look and its unique "skin feature". If it had also come with the two LG girls who presented it, the phone would have indeed been a rare bargain.
