The first TV phone from AT&T

LG Vu, rumored a few weeks ago to be released via AT&T at the end of this month (March 2008), is almost officially confirmed by the largest US mobile carrier. We say almost, because there aren't any clear details about the release date, but promo materials already appeared in AT&T stores and, most probably, the handset will be available starting this week.

Also known as LG CU920, LG Vu is one of the latest high-end handsets to come from the South Korean producer. It will be the first mobile phone from AT&T to offer Mobile TV, as it's a handset that supports the MediaFLO service.

The new LG Vu is a nice looking handset that comes with a design reminding the Prada phone released by LG back in 2007. Vu packs quad-band GSM and dual-band UMTS connectivity, GRPS, EDGE and HSDPA (up to 3.6 Mbps), a 3 inch touchscreen display with 262k colors support and a 240 x 400 pixels resolution, plus a photo camera with video recording (there are no details about its Megapixel number for now). Furthermore, the handset comes with a touch-based user interface, multimedia players, full HTML browser, USB, Bluetooth, Java, Ring ID, PictureID, microSD card support to boost the (unknown yet) internal memory and many other handy features.

Apparently LG Vu will also have a version that does not include TV capabilities, LG CU915, created for users who might feel that watching TV on a small display is not really a nice experience.

There are no details about the price of LG Vu (TV or TV-less), but it will surely not be an affordable one. AT&T will probably announce the handset these days, so those interested in being Vu owners should regularly check the carrier's website and retail stores.
