After surprisingly launching the Optimus 2X and Optimus Black in India ahead of other important markets, LG has now revealed plans to bring its first Android tablet, the Optimus Pad in the country.

According to Vishal Chopra, LG Electronics business head for mobile communications, the Optimus Pad will be available for purchase in India in June this year.

As the LG official suggested, the company will try to position the tablet's price below Samsung's Galaxy Tab and Apple's iPad, between Rs 30,000 ($678) and Rs 40,000 ($904).

However, there's a slight chance it will go for a price even lower than Rs 30,000 ($678) “depending on currency valuation and import duties at the time of the launch.

I will be in a better position to say [about price] around last week of May,” Chopra said in a statement for Economic Times.

Even if the Optimus Pad does not win the price wars on the Indian market, the tablet will be one of the key products of the Korean manufacturer in 2011.

According to LG, even sales of up to 2,000 tablets a month will bring the company a large enough revenue and profitability.

As a reminder, LG Optimus Pad was announced at the 2011 Mobile World Congress and is the company's first tablet built to run on Android Honeycomb platform.

It's also the world's first 3D tablet that will be available on the market, thanks to its 8.9-inch 3D LCD capacitive touchscreen with 16 million colors and 768 x 1280 pixels resolution.

The tablet boasts 5-megapixel dual cameras with autofocus, LED flash, as well as camcorder which can record 1080p@24fps (2D) and 720@30fps (3D) videos.

Even though it's not one of the largest on the market, the Optimus Pad is for sure one of the most powerful thanks to its 1GHz NVIDIA Tegra 2 AP20H dual core processor.
