A few weeks ago, South Korean mobile phone maker LG Electronics unveiled to the world the successor of its highly popular Optimus One smartphone, in the form of LG Optimus Hub, a device that has just received the necessary approvals from the FCC.

The mobile phone that was spotted in the FCC courtyard packed support for the 1900 and 850MHz bands, which would make it a great candidate for the airwaves of wireless carriers such as AT&T, Bell, Telus and Rogers.

Of course, nothing was confirmed officially on the matter, but chances are that it won't be too long before that happens, especially now that the device already got the blessing from the feds.

The LG Optimus Hub handset is expected to become as popular as its predecessor, though it seems that there still are a series of specifications on it that were not unveiled to the world, as the guys over at Engadget note.

For the time being, what is known on this phone includes the fact that it should have a 5-megapixel photo snapper on the back, with LED flash, but with no HD video recording capabilities.

In all fairness, the device will still be able to shoot videos, only that they will be in VGA (640 x 480 pixels) resolution.

At the same time, we should note the fact that LG Optimus Hub is expected to include the usual set of connectivity options, such as WiFi or Bluetooth, along with, of course, 3G.

The OS flavor it will run under should be Gingerbread, yet no official confirmation on this has been provided until now.

In other words, there are more things about the new mobile phone that we do not know than things that we know. However, all the blanks might start being filled in the near future, since the phone is expected to arrive in Europe in a matter of weeks. The US launch might not be too far either.
