Announced two months ago along with LG Optimus 2X, the Optimus Black is now available for purchase online for only Rs. 19,990 (about $445).

According to LG India, the Optimus Black is expected to hit shelves in the next several days, but customers can now order the smartphone from Flipkart or Letsbuy.

Potential customers should be aware of the fact that they will have to wait around 3-5 business days to receive the Optimus Black if they decide to order it through one of the two online retailers.

It is also worth mentioning that Letsbuy offers a free 2GB microSD memory card with the Optimus Black and that the price is slightly cheaper at Rs. 19,989 (about $443).

Furthermore, the prices include all taxes and delivery is free of charge in India. Obviously, customers will also receive a 1-year warranty on handsets and only 6 months on accessories.

Unveiled earlier this year during the Consumer Electronics Show, the Optimus Black does not aim to be the fastest smartphone on the market; instead it promises users a longer battery time and unparalleled energy efficiency.

Touted as one of the brightest smartphones on the mobile market, the Optimus Black comes with a larger 4.0-inch multi-touch screen display, which is based on LG's NOVA technology.

The Optimus Black screen is capable of emitting 700 nits (candela per square meter) and it features 16 million colors support, 480 x 800 pixels resolution, as well as accelerometer sensor for UI auto-rotate and proximity sensor for auto turn-off.

Hardware-wise, LG Optimus Black is equipped with a Texas Instruments 3630 processor clocked at 1 GHz speed.

The handset runs Google's Android 2.2 Froyo platform, along with LG's Optimus 2.0 and Gesture 2.0 user-friendly interfaces.

Other highlights of the phone include HSDPA, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, DLNA function, Wi-Fi Direct-Fi and Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP and EDR support, as well as GPS with A-GPS support.
