Aussie Android fans will be thrilled to find out that LG is planning to launch their new flagship Android smartphone LG Optimus 3D, as well as the Optimus Black, in Australia in Q2 2011 or early Q3 2011. According to SmartHouse, citing Brad Reed Senior Category Manager Marketing for LG Australia's Mobile Telecommunications, the Korean manufacturer is expected to launch three new smartphones in 2011 and possibly the Optimus Pad tablet as well.

While the launch of the three aforementioned smartphones, Optimus 3D, Optimus 2x and Optimus Black seems to be imminent, the release of the company's tablet is questionable, as LG officials have stated that finding a suitable carrier or retailer will be much harder in this case.

All three smartphones that are expected to be launched in Australia are running Android 2.2 Froyo, but the manufacturer suggested they will receive a Gingerbread software upgrade soon after they become available on the market.

Each of the three devices marks a premier for the manufacturer and for the smartphone industry.

LG Optimus 2x is the first Android-based smartphone to feature a dual core Nvidia Tegra 2 chipset, the Optimus Black is the first to come with a NOVA display, while the Optimus 3D, as the name suggests, is the first with glasses-free 3D display.

The new announcement comes after a terrible year for LG Australia, who is now trying to re-launch the brand by introducing its latest Android devices on the Australian market.

Commenting on the subject, Reed said: “There is a lot of activity out in the market at the moment particularly around Android. This is set to change the dynamics of the communication market in Australia.”

Obviously, things won't be so simple, as Microsoft and Windows Phone 7 will likely get a fair share of the Australian market after their deal with Nokia.
