14 DAY TRIAL // Korean mobile phone maker LG Electronics announced on Monday the release of its second Viewty phone, dubbed LG Viewty Smart or LG GC900, a device that comes to the market with an 8-megapixel photo snapper that sports auto focus and Schneider-Kreuznach lens, as well as an Intelligent Shot Mode meant to automatically analyze scenes and lighting conditions so as to adjust camera settings.
The second Viewty follows a popular handset, which sold in more than 6.5 million units, and comes to the market with viewing and sharing capabilities, it allows users take still and moving pictures, and includes a high-resolution WVGA touchscreen, as well as a more intelligent image processor than its predecessor, and LG’s easy-to-use S-Class User Interface. At the same time, the camera features include sensitivity up to ISO 1600, Multi-Face Detection, Beauty Shot, Touch Shot, Continuous Shot, Panorama Shot, Art Shot, DVD-quality D1 video recording, and LED flash.
“With Viewty we completely changed the way people looked at camera phones. For the first time, people didn’t have to put up with poor image quality for the convenience of using the cameras on their mobile phones,” said Dr. Skott Ahn, president and CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company. “With Viewty Smart we’ll change perceptions again. It won’t be about having a camera phone that equals the quality of a standalone digital camera. It will be about having a smart camera phone that takes better pictures and is easier to use than a standalone digital camera.”
The specification list of the handset includes a 3.0-inch TFT touchscreen display that can offer an 800 x 480 pixel resolution, quad-band GSM (850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 MHz) connectivity, HSDPA 2100 connectivity, A-GPS with geotagging, Wi-Fi connectivity, Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP, 1.5GB of internal memory and a MicroSDHC memory card slot with support for up to 32 GB of additional storage space, all packed inside a 100.8 x 55.8 x 12.4-millimeter phone.
The LG Viewty Smart also includes multimedia features, such as music player and DivX/XviD/MPEG4 player, as well as Web browsing capabilities, and allows users to access and upload files to social networking sites. According to the company, the device will come to the market in May, and it will be made available in Europe via several carriers. Other areas will also receive it later this year.
