With the back-to-school season in progress, IT players are launching new products left and right, and LG moved to increase the number of available monitors by bringing out four new LED-backlit LCDs with IPS panels and screen sizes of 20 to 23 inches.

Apparently, Dell isn't the only company that enjoys giving its displays dynamic contrast ratios (DCR) of multiple millions to 1.

Now, LG come out and revealed the existence of a number of its own models, also with DCRs of millions to 1, among other benefits.

The four displays it has prepared are the IPS2062T, IPS226V, IPS236V and IPS231P, all of which are designed with a glossy black frame and feature IPS (in-plane switching) panels.

The design and the thickness of just 19.5 mm, however, are not the prime assets of the devices, their real worth lying in their image quality and visibility.

The IPS2062T is both the smallest and least capable of the lot, with a diagonal of 20 inches and a native resolution of 1,600 x 900 pixels.

The other three, the 21.5-inch IPS226V and the 23-inch IPS236V and IPS231P, all have a resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 pixels.

Other assets of the newcomers include a viewing angle of 178 degrees, both horizontal and vertical, as well as a G2G (gray to gray) response time of 6 ms.

What's more, the displays come with a brightness of 250 cd/m2 and, of course, the dynamic contrast ratio of 5,000,000:1.

The only one of the four that stands out more than the rest is the IPS231P, which features a pair of 1W speakers and a stand with pivot, swivel, tilt and height adjustment.

Finally, all newcomer utilize D-Sub and DVI connectors, the IPS226V and IPS236V also being designed with a HDMI input.

Unfortunately, the FlatpanelsHD report did not contain any pricing or availability details.
