South Korean mobile phone maker LG Electronics announced on Thursday that its newly unveiled LG Chocolate LG-BL40, the fourth handset it has included in the Black Label Series, would become available for purchase on the European market starting mid-September. At the same time, the company also announced that Europe was only the first area to see the LG Chocolate LG-BL40, and that the phone was set to come to a wider range of markets around the world in October 2009.

LG Chocolate brings forth a new shape, being longer than the mobile phones we're accustomed with, and delivering a 4-inch wide screen. The 21:9 panoramic display, the company states, “establishes a new level of visual comfort for the reading of web pages and e-mail and dramatically brings videos and games to life with cinematic flair.” At the same time, users will have the opportunity to enjoy dual screen usability, as well as LG's intuitive S-Class UI and its user friendliness.

“The new LG Chocolate will dramatically change the way we interact with our phones,” said Dr. Skott Ahn, CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company. “The new Chocolate reflects the originality and sophistication of the Black Label Series and like its predecessor, we are confident that the new Chocolate will create its own legacy and further enhance our standing in the market.”

The features list of the fresh LG Chocolate LG-BL40 shows support for 7.2 HSDPA for fast Internet browsing, with the elimination of side scrolling due to the wider screen, a panoramic multimedia experience, the Dual Screen UI (shows two types of content at the same time), simplified touchscreen navigation, one-touch copy and paste, a wide range of personalization options through wallpapers, themes and ringtones, a slim shape with glossy black finish, as well as a smooth, elegant surface provided by the curved scratch-resistant glass encasing the device.

The LG Chocolate LG-BL40 should first become available for purchase on the UK market, with other European countries receiving it in September.
