The handset runs under Gingerbread and might arrive on shelves soon

Wireless services provider MetroPCS is expected to bring to the market in the near future a new handset that will connect to its LTE network, namely the LG Esteem, some of the latest reports on the matter suggest.

The new device was spotted into the wild before, and is said to be none other than the LG Bryce smartphone that was rumored a while ago to be on its way to MetroPCS' network.

A recent leak from the wireless carrier confirms that the new mobile phone will indeed arrive on shelves with support for the carrier's LTE network, though nothing is official on the matter for the time being.

In addition to confirming the name and purpose of this LG Esteem, the said leak also unveiled a series of hardware specifications the handset will land on shelves with, showing that it will be a very appealing addition to MetroPCS' lineup.

The mobile phone is powered by a 1GHz application processor, complemented by 512MB of RAM, with 8GB of internal memory for users to enjoy, and a microSD memory card slot to add some more storage space in case that is not enough.

Moreover, the new device is said to sport a large 4.3-inch touchscreen display on the front, along with a 5-megapixel photo snapper on the back, with 720p video recording capabilities. A 1.3MP camera on the front is meant to enable users make video calls.

The specifications list of this device also shows that it should include a 1500mAh battery inside, and that it will offer support both for MetroPCS' LTE network, as well as for its CDMA airwaves.

The LG Esteem is said to run under Google's Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system, with LG's Optimus UI on top.

Unfortunately, details regarding the availability and pricing of this device at the wireless carrier are still shrouded in mystery, but stay tuned for more on the matter.
