Mobile phone carrier Alltel Wireless announced on Thursday the launch of yet another handset for its customers, the LG AX310. According to the company, the new device from LG Electronics can be purchased either online, from the wireless operator's website, or from all Alltel retail stores (including all of its 91 cellular market areas that Verizon Wireless should divest).

The new LG AX310 comes towards the carrier's customers with a clamshell design and is set to prove itself an attractive device, as well as a practical one. The phone comes with versatile communication capabilities, the operator states, as well as with the accessibility and functionality that any users would require from such a device.

While on-the-go, Alltel users can enjoy the voice-activated calling feature included with the new LG AX310, as well as one-touch speakerphone, not to mention the Bluetooth 2.1+EDR connectivity the device has been packed with. In addition, the mobile phone also comes with speaker-independent voice commands and offers users the possibility to record voice memos.

The new device also sports a 1.3-megapixel photo snapper, as well as text and picture messaging capabilities, and a large keypad. Other features are also present with the handset, and Alltel subscribers can enjoy them for $29.99 upon the signing of a one-year contract agreement with the carrier and after a $30 mail-in rebate.

The mobile phone carrier also stresses the fact that it provides its users with new handsets priced as if for a 2-year contract service while requesting only the signing of a one-year service agreement. Alltel customers in the 91 cellular market areas Verizon Wireless is required to divest can enjoy the offering, the company states, adding that they will remain as Alltel Wireless until the Department of Justice and Federal Communications Commission approve the deals with AT&T and Atlantic Tele-Network. More details can be found on the carrier's website here.
