South Korean mobile phone maker LG Electronics unveiled to the world its LG GD910 watch phone at the beginning of the ongoing year, and already announced that the handset would become available for purchase on the European market via wireless carrier Orange, though no details on the possible availability of the device in other markets were unveiled.

Even so, it seems that the watch phone is also getting ready to make its appearance in the United States, as it has just gotten the FCC approval for use in the country. Hopefully, this means that the phone is, indeed, getting ready for the stateside trip, and those who already live in hope of the device coming will have a reason to rejoice.

Unfortunately, it seems that no other details on the phone have been unveiled at the moment. The one thing that is certain now is that LG has gotten its watch phone wandering through FCC's hallways, and that this is enough for most of us to expect a launch in the country in the near future. It still remains to be seen if this American version of the device comes with other capabilities as compared with the original, and what frequencies it will support.

In case its specs are the same, we should be looking for a device sporting 7.2Mbps HSDPA capabilities, a 1.43-inch touchscreen display, an MP3 player, stereo Bluetooth and a built-in speaker, an intuitive interface from the mobile phone maker, a 13.9mm-thick design, 3G support, Text to Speech (TTS) features, voice recognition and a camera for video calls.

When unveiling the phone at the MWC show in Barcelona, Dr. Skott Ahn, president and CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company, stated, “This Watch Phone is the result of a great deal of research and development, something that is very important to us at LG. We will continue to invest in creating innovative new products and technologies like this and setting trends in the mobile phone industry.”
