L.A. Noire, the detective and action title that was longed developed by Team Bondi and benefited from support from Rockstar Games, has managed to take over the United Kingdom video game chart on its first week on sale.

The game relies on new cutting edge motion capture technology to make the expressions and feeling of the various characters one of the main points of the game and challenges the player to tackle a number of criminal cases by gathering proof, confronting suspects and finally determining who needs to be put under lock and key.

LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean from Disney Interactive Studios has managed to keep its second place in the top ten, probably because of the launch of the new movie in the long-running Johnny Depp powered franchise.

Last weeks first place Brink, the multiplayer-oriented shooter from developer Splash Studios and publisher Bethesda Softworks, has slipped down two places to third spot as the two companies are releasing patches to address some of the game's gameplay problems.

Fourth place in the United Kingdom went to Zumba Fitness, from 505 Games, which yielded positions to new high-profile launches, but also managed to perform better than The Witcher 2: Assassin's of Kings, the new role-playing game from CD Projekt RED, which landed in fifth.

Crysis 2, the first-person shooter set in New York from Crytek, has managed to come back to sixth place in the chart coming from ninth while Portal 2 also saw a precipitous drop, reaching 7 coming from 4.

FIFA 11 from EA Sports has kept its eight place in the United Kingdom while the new Mortal Kombat from Warner Bros. is in ninth place.

Call of Duty: Black Ops seems to be finally running out of sales Steam and closes down the top ten.
