Pond’s Cold Cream receives much welcome boost in sales following Kylie Minogue’s admission of using it

Just the other day, following much speculation that her seemingly wrinkle-free complexion was due to Botox and / or a facelift, Kylie Minogue revealed that her beauty secret was actually to be found in a jar that sold for no less than £3.99: Pond’s Cold Cream. Following the interview and the unexpected endorsement from the petite star, sales for the product have soared, the Daily Mail says.

As it was to be expected, come to think of it. After all, this is Kylie we’re talking about, a woman who, no matter how much she insists she doesn’t work out, pays almost no attention to her complexion (as opposed to celebrities who would go to whatever length to maintain their youthful appearance) and claims her good looks are actually down to good makeup, looks fabulous at 41. Her voicing her support of the Pond’s cream couldn’t but get countless women out to look the miraculous product that made Kylie look this fabulous.

“All it took was a word from Kylie. Miss Minogue’s admission that she uses Pond’s Cold Cream has sent sales of the traditional beauty treatment through the roof. There has long been speculation over how Miss Minogue, who turns 42 on Friday, has kept her skin looking so youthful. While she has admitted having Botox injections in the past, she says she now only uses Pond’s. The lotion, which has been around for 100 years, sells for £3.99 for a 75ml pot in Boots. It is based on a cleanser used in Greece almost 2,000 years ago – an emulsion of water and certain fats,” the Daily Mail writes.

“Yesterday Pond’s, which is owned by multi-national company Unilever, said there had been a staggering reaction to Miss Minogue’s comments. Sales were up by 120 per cent. ‘We’re calling it ‘the Kylie effect,’ and it has been dramatic, to say the least,’ said a spokesman. ‘It’s been crazy. Stockists are increasing their orders and we’ve had to up our product orders pretty dramatically.’ Miss Minogue said she had stopped having Botox and would never have cosmetic surgery,” the same publication goes on to say.

According to the renowned singer, she first heard of Pond’s from her mother, who couldn’t stop singing its praise. She decided to give it a try as well and was astounded to learn that, indeed, the cream worked wonders on the skin, leaving it much smoother and free of wrinkles. With this kind of endorsement, it’s no wonders sales for Pond’s Cold Cream went through the roof.
