14 DAY TRIAL // “Twilight” star Kristen Stewart may soon be taking on her first studio project since becoming a household name: The Hollywood Reporter has learned she’s being courted for the leading role in the upcoming “Snow White and the Huntsman.”
Initial reports said that Tom Hardy and Angelina Jolie were loosely attached to the film, but they had to turn it down because of their busy schedules, it is believed.
Now, it’s Charlize Theron for Jolie’s part and Viggo Mortensen for Hardy’s. Kristen Stewart may land the part of Snow White herself, THR says, if everything goes according to plan.
Negotiations have not begun yet, says the same e-zine. For the time being, Universal bosses are looking at actresses and holding screen tests. Stewart is a favorite, it is being said.
“The Twilight star is on the list for the role of Snow White in Universal’s Snow White and the Huntsman,” THR says.
“The movie, being directed by Rupert Sanders, is in deep casting mode, with Viggo Mortensen entering negotiations to play the Huntsman earlier Wednesday. Charlize Theron is in negotiations to play the evil queen,” the e-zine notes.
“Stewart is a name that Universal has kept coming back to since acquiring the project even as it went through a series of screen tests with actresses such as Riley Keough, Felicity Jones and Alicia Vikander,” THR points out.
“Emily Browning tested this past weekend (Stewart has reached a point in her career where testing isn’t required),” the e-zine notes.
If studio bosses eventually settle for Stewart, this could be her first studio release since “Twilight.” Ever since she shot to international fame as Bella Swan in the vampire saga, Kristen has been doing only indie movies.
Speaking of “Twilight,” earlier this month, the first photo from the upcoming installment, “Breaking Dawn Part 1,” hit the web: it shows Bella and Edward (Robert Pattinson) right before making love on their wedding night, as we also informed you at the time.
