Lindsay Lohan is now wearing a court-ordered alcohol-monitoring device after violating the terms of her probation. The bracelet in question, also known as a SCRAM device, detects even the smallest traces of alcohol in the blood – and it’s already been set off once, though Lindsay insists she hasn’t touched a drop of alcohol. The problem may be, as TMZ informs, in her new found love for Kombucha tea.

As we were also telling you at the end of last month, the star found the special kind of tea called Kombucha and has decided to use it to help her in her struggle against what is believed to be an alcohol addiction. The tea is reportedly very good for one’s health, while also boasting attributes that strengthen the body by re-establishing balance, while also helping it fight the nasty side effects of addiction – to anything from alcohol, junk food or coffee, it is being said. Unfortunately, it’s precisely this that’s putting Lindsay at risk.

“Lindsay Lohan's biggest sobriety aid – a kind of tea called Kombucha that usually contains harmless traces of alcohol – could get LiLo in serious SCRAM trouble... because it might be more alcoholic than she thought. According to the label, the tea contains less than 0.5% alcohol – a negligible amount – but Whole Foods recently yanked all the teas from their shelves over concerns the label isn’t so accurate,” TMZ says in the aftermath of the story that made the rounds that Lindsay set off her SCRAM device after drinking.

“The guy behind Kombucha, GT Dave, admitted there are concerns over alcohol levels in the drink – but tells TMZ, ‘Although we are not familiar with the technology or sensitivity of SCRAM bracelets, we think it would be highly unlikely that our products would trigger an alarm.’ Bottom line, Lindsay would probably have to drink a ton of this stuff to set off her SCRAM-shackle – but that’s not to say she couldn’t do it,” the same report further says, suggesting the first incident was also due to Lindsay’s love of Kombucha.

The alcohol in the Kombucha tea is explainable by the fact that this beverage is made of fermented tea and a solid mass of yeast and bacteria. In unusually large quantities, it is believed that Kombucha tea can set off a SCRAM device and even leave one feeling intoxicated.
