14 DAY TRIAL // Just as Koolance has promised earlier this week, the company's first waterblock for AMD's dual-GPU Radeon HD 6990 graphics card can now be purchased from its website for $159.99. This is called the VID-AR699 and is compatible with all the HD 6990 solutions that use AMD's reference layout.
According to the company, the VID-AR699 utilizes a high-performance microfin (0.5mm) design made of solid copper with anti-corrosive nickel plating.
In addition, the block should fit most water-cooling setups as it features standard G 1/4 BSP nozzle threading and is even compatible with Radeon HD 6990 CrossFireX configurations, as long as the right connect nozzles are being used.
These are also available from Koolance's online shop, so users who want to build such a setup won't have to search the whole Web for the required parts.
The Radeon HD 6990 is AMD's flagship graphics card and features dual Cayman XT cores installed on the same printed circuit board and joined together in an internal CrossFireX setup.
As a result, the HD 6990 packs no less than 3072 stream processors, 192 texturing units, 64 ROPs and dual 256-bit wide memory buses connected to 4GB of GDDR5 memory.
The cores are clocked at 830MHz, but the card also features a special switch that enables users to run the card into the so-called AUSUM mode that overclocks the GPUs to 880MHz and raises its TDP from the stock 375W to a whopping 450W.
As stated earlier, Koolance's VID-AR699 waterblock is available right now from the company's online store for $159.99 and additional stock is expected to arrive on Monday.
Koolance is the second company to announce a waterblock for the Radeon HD 6990 as EK is also building such a solution, dubbed the EK-FC6990, but this is expected to arrive only later next week. (via XtremeSystems)
