Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, the PlayStation Portable videogame from Konami that has been widely characterized as MGS 5, has gone gold and is set to go on sale in Japan on April 28. To celebrate the occasion, series director Hideo Kojima has given an interview to Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu. The outlet has already awarded the game a perfect score, a feat that might be linked with the appearances it will make, in virtual form, inside MGS: Peace Walker.

Speaking about the actual story delivered by Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker Hideo Kojima said that “The story isn't over just because you beat the game once. I can't go into details, but a lot goes on right at the end, and you might wind up crying over it, even.”

And it seems that the crying theme is present in other areas too. Peace Walker will have taped conversations that go on for quite some time and Kojima stated that “You can play the tapes while sitting on the train or something, like you were listening to a radio drama. You can learn about how Snake and Miller first met, too, so you could wind up crying while you listen to it.”

The game creator also says that a lot of the inspiration for the latest Snake saga has come from playing Pokemon Gold/Silver, which his son brought to his attention. He goes on to describe the videogame as being a mix of classic Metal Gear Solid, Monster Hunter (which will make a full on appearance), Pokemon and even some Sim City.

Kojima adds that the tagline of the game is now “Tactical Espionage Operation,” not “Tactical Espionage Action,” which signals a move from solo play towards management of a bigger group of operatives who work towards liberating Costa Rica from an unknown enemy.
