They make it movie like

We've been talking quite a bit about Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, the PlayStation Portable bound creation from Konami and Hideo Kojima that is set to appear in Japan on April 28 and in North America in June.

We've heard about how its creator sees it as a sort of test run when it comes to a near future platform independent reality for videogames and about the way Naked Snake will be able to access a section of the game modeled on Capcom’s Monster Hunter franchise, allowing him to take down fantasy beasts using traditional weapons and also his stealth skills.

What the latest news conference from Konami also showed is a huge number of products that will make an appearance in the game, as demonstrated by the image attached to this article. There will be in-game presences for: Doritos, Pepsi, Mountain Dew, Axe spray, Sony Walkman products, Uniql, a manga called Weekly Jump, and game magazines Famitsu, Dangeki PlayStation and Games.

There will also be a tie-in with Assassin's Creed from Ubisoft, and Square Enix is set to create and sell action figures based on Peace Walker, with Hori and Porter handling the official accessories. It's a bit much but Konami is saying that the products will not be intrusive in any way and that players will be able to get through the entire experience without being bothered by their existence.

Hideo Kojima, the man who guides the future of Metal Gear, has never hidden his ambition of creating movies and the addition of so much product placement in Peace Walker might be a sort of dry run for a future movie project. Unfortunately, it might turn some players off from getting the game, which his creator states could as well have been called Metal Gear Solid 5. Let's hope Snake does not come to a point where he needs to buy some Axe spray in order to regain health.
