Jokes about men who, by mistake, call their wives by their lovers’ name are very popular. For Kody Brown, star of TLC’s reality show “Sister Wives,” who’s married to 4 different women, the joke is a reality.

Season 2 of the incredibly popular reality series that details the live of the oversized family (1 man, 4 wives, 16 children in 4 houses) kicks off this month, and the Browns are promoting it.

After an appearance on The Today Show, the Browns also made one on Ellen DeGeneres, where they took questions from the host like what it’s like to be a part of such a huge family and how are they coping financially.

For starters, all 4 wives and the husband seem very happy, both with their lifestyle and how things are going with them.

Of course, things can be a bit difficult when you have so many children to provide for and houses to keep, but Kody and the wives “cut corners” a lot to make ends meet, they say.

“It is. We cut corners. We use coupons. We don’t own a boat,” Christine says. “We do second hand stores. It’s hand-me-downs. Our cars are old,” Janelle chimes in.

As for their living arrangement, Kody says that it usually works perfectly, save for the fact that now that he’s married Robyn too (they were wed 10 months ago), he tends to get their names mixed up at times.

Basically, each wife has her own home and Kody “rotates” nights with one family at a time. It’s very energy and time-consuming, but he describes it as a “learning process.”

“Yes, it’s a schedule and we rotate through the schedule. It’s actually not [confusing]. [However] packing to come here took me four hours. Because it’s like, ‘Oh, my favorite socks are at Meri’s house.’ And I was packing at Janelle’s,” he says.

Since welcoming Robyn into the family as well, he’s been mixing up the wives’ names, though.

“You know, it’s funny, I never did until Robyn came into the family and lately I’ve been slipping up a lot,” he says.

“It’s true. He can only remember three things at once,” Robyn confirms.
