Should already be shipping in multiple color options

There has certainly been no shortage of new photo and video cameras lately, so the fact that Kodak has begun to ship a certain model of its own probably won't garner too much surprise.

Cameras have been advancing in leaps and bounds, the same way that the standard image quality accepted on multimedia devices has gone up several steps over the past couple of years.

The new product that Kodak announced is a clear proof of this, even though it isn't really intended to be any sort of flagship.

Indeed, it isn't really on par with the likes of the Sony NEX-7, displayed at IFA 2011(we even wrote a hands-on article about it, here).

Nevertheless, even priced at $160 (silver, blue, pink and red), the product has more than enough to handle both high-resolution photos and video.

The 16-megapixel CCD sensor is the main asset, though the 5x optical zoom and the ISO sensitivity of up to 1600 are nothing to scoff at either.

The area where one might say that the device is lacking is that of internal storage (only 18 MB), but the microSD card slot should make any complaints obsolete.

High-resolution photos, as well as 720p video, are fully supported and displayed on the 3-inch (230k-dot) LCD, which has capacitive touchscreen support

Finally, Kodak threw in the Share Button App software, which does exactly what it says on the tin (shares content easily and quickly).

"The EASYSHARE TOUCH Camera offers the family 'Chief Memory Officer' great 16MP pictures or 720 HD video that can be simply shared with a touch," said Phil Scott, vice president of Marketing, Digital Capture and Accessories, Kodak.

"The EASYSHARE TOUCH Camera has a completely new compact and clean design with an intuitive touch screen and many additional features. These options allow consumers to effortlessly tap the screen to take a picture or add in effects like background blur and spot color easily from the touch screen."
