Thanks in part to its low price and fully featured eBook service, the Kobo eReader managed to steal some of the Kindle's spotlight ever since it was first launched back in June, so Kobo is proud to announce their reader is now available across the US from the nation's favorite retailer, Walmart.

Priced at $129 plus free shipping, the Kobo eReader will be now available in Walmat's online store after it already went on sale in its brick and mortar stores just a month ago.

Available in onyx, lilac, and silver, the 6 inch eInk display packing Kobo comes with support for a wide range of eBook formats, including ePUB, PDF and Adobe DRM, users having to choose between no less than 2.2 million titles that are available for purchase.

Furthermore 100 classic tiles come pre-loaded with the device ever sine you buy it, the Kobo being able to store up to 1,000 eBooks in its 1GB internal memory, that is fully expandable via a SD memory card slot (storing up to 10,000 eBooks).

All of these are packed inside a lightweight and compact chassis, the eReader being just 0.4 inches thick and tipping the scale at a little over 8 ounces.

“The customer response to the Kobo eReading service in the U.S. and around the globe has been incredible, and we know that people are looking for more ways to get their hands on our eReader.”

“Our goal is to bring eReading to everyone, and by working with one of the most trusted American online shopping destinations, Walmart.com, we are able to offer customers even greater shipping convenience and choice,” reads the Kobo blog.

As stated earlier, the Kobo is available right now from Walmart.com for $129, the eReader also being sold by Borders and Kobo's website. (via CrunchGear)
