Kingston ValueRAM Server Premier DDR3 memory gets certification for Supermicro motherboards

Kingston Technology, one of the world's premiere DIMM modules manufacturers, has just announced that its ValueRAM Server Premier series of DDR3 memory has been independently validated to work with a wide range of Supermicro server motherboards, including dual-socket models.

Kingston has received the certification from the Advanced Validation Labs (AVL), a company specialized in pre and post-production memory testing and validation.

In order for the memory to be declared compatible with Supermicro's motherboards, AVL has put IT through some extensive tests which were run on various Intel Xeon setups.

All the memory modules that have received the AVL certification are built using chips manufactured by Hynix and support error correction-code (ECC).

As far as the rest of their specifications are concerned, Kingston's DDR3 DIMMs vary in size between 2GB and 8GB, are clocked at either 1066MHz or 1333MHz and their latencies are set at CL9 and CL7.

“System builders and integrators have long used Supermicro’s high-quality server boards in a multitude of platforms,” said Hanni Eid, ValueRAM server business manager, Kingston.

“Our Server Premier line offers unique features in addition to being fully AVL-validated and compatible with these builds.

“To make it easier for our mutual customer base to get more information and find the right Kingston memory solutions for Supermicro boards, we’ve developed a special Web page,” concludes the company's rep.

This website can be found over here and lists the boards that were used for the testing as well as the qualification received by each of the motherboard/memory combos.

According to Kingston, ValueRAM Server Premier modules are manufactured using a locked bill-of-materials (BOM) for customers who require the brand and revision of PCB and die to always remain the same.

If a BOM change is in order, customers will be announced in advance via a Product Change Notification (PCN).
