Neocore Games, as the developer, and Paradox Interactive, as the publisher, have announced that they will be delivering two new downloadable content packs for the strategy game Lionheart: King's Crusade, focused on the Saracens and on the Teutons.

In addition to the new content, the game is also getting a change of names, from now on going by The King's Crusade to reflect the wider appeal of the series and the fact that focus in shifting away from the personality of Lionheart and towards the Crusade itself.

Neocore Games aimed for humor in their announcement, putting words in the mouth of the King of England himself, with the royal fighter saying that “I just felt ‘Richard The Lionheart’ was a bit of a mouthful. I felt I wanted something a little snappier when the little people were addressing me. Therefore, from now on I shall be addressed simply as ‘King’. It’s short, easy to remember, and sums me up perfectly!”

The first expansion for the game will be called Arabian Nights and will arrive on February 8, offering more options for the player who opt to play as the Saracens and drive the Crusaders from the Holy Land.

Later in 2011, gamers will also be able to get Teutonic Knights, an add-on which does not yet have a launch date but will probably expand the roster and options available to the Crusaders in their mission.

The King's Crusade is a good strategy title with a limited scope, which combines a layer of strategic choices related to units, special abilities and preparation with tactical battles that resemble the Total War formula but are more brutal and focus more on keeping certain high level troops alive through a series of missions.

Paradox Interactive has announced that it has seven new gaming projects in development that will be revealed before the end of this month.
