Daughter North wore a matching gown, also designed by Riccardo Tisci

Despite earlier reports saying that Kim Kardashian was looking to “outdo” Duchess Kate Middleton with her wedding to Kanye West, which took place this weekend in Florence, Italy, by wearing a Sarah Burton dress for McQueen, she ended up saying her “I Do” in Givenchy.

People magazine has a clear photo of the wedding dress, a blurrier version of which you will also find embedded below.

The designer for Givenchy is now Riccardo Tisci, who also designed Kim’s much ridiculed MET Gala 2013 floral nightmare of a dress. He is close friends with rapper Kanye and even collaborated with him on some of his projects.

Since the MET Gala nightmare, he’s been very close to the couple, as Kim never missed the opportunity of saying on her social media accounts, where she posted several photos of him and her and Kanye’s daughter North.

“Kardashian, 33, wore a custom Givenchy Haute Couture by Riccardo Tisci long-sleeve, sheer-paneled lace creation with a floor-length veil and accessories (also Givenchy) for her trip down the aisle, as did daughter North, 10 months, who donned a matching handmade dress. The dress had lace sleeves and side lace cutouts, and featured pearl embellishments along the neckline,” People writes.

Kanye also wore Givenchy but, for the time being, we have no photos of his tux. Neither do we have of Kim’s second gown for the big day / night, into which she changed during the reception.

“Kim just changed dresses,” Kanye told the guests. “I just had to stop things for my girl, Kim. Changed dresses…uh oh!,” he cheered into the microphone, as the guests gave the bride a big round of applause.

As per earlier (unconfirmed) accounts, Kim initially wanted to have 3 dress changes. The same reports said that Kanye had picked the actual wedding dress himself and would not let Kim see it until minutes before the ceremony.

Speaking of which, it took place at the Forte di Belvedere in Florence, Italy, and was preceded by a couple of days of non-stop parties and fancy dinners (including the official rehearsal dinner) in Paris, France.

Kim and Kanye actually managed to keep the wedding location a secret, leading the world to believe it would go down in Paris. Florence apparently holds a very romantic meaning for them, being the place where they went on an unofficial “honeymoon,” where North was conceived.

Vogue will probably run wedding photos in its upcoming issue. Unless Kim breaks her self-imposed Twitter silence by then to post some pics of her gown, this is probably when we’ll have a proper good look at it.
