Kanye West and Kim Kardashian, also known as Kimye, are engaged. The rapper popped the question on her 33rd birthday and the ring he proposed with is a flawless 15-carat diamond one, believed to have set him back an estimated $1.6 million (€1.16 million).

Kanye surprised Kim at the AT&T Park in San Francisco, where she walked in blindfolded and in complete darkness. When her blindfold was removed, the Jumbotron lit up with the worlds “PLEEEASE MARRY MEEE!” and a 50-member orchestra started to play.

This is when Kanye dropped to one knee and produced the giant ring, of which People says is a 15-carat, flawless, D-cut square diamond by jeweler Lorraine Schwartz. He also worked with the Schwartz to design it.

As a fun fact, the ring Kim got from Kris Humphries had also been designed by the same jeweler and was much more impressive in size (not that Kanye’s isn’t impressive as it is): it was a 20-carat stone that cost an estimated $2 million (€1.45 million).

However, Kim is believed to have paid for it herself, which probably wasn’t the case with Kanye.

Speaking of Kanye and how much money he spent to surprise the love of his life, as he once referred to Kim in a TV interview, word online has it he coughed up an impressive $6 million (€4.3 million) for the extravagant birthday surprise.

Not only did he rent out the entire stadium, but he also hired the orchestra to play Kim’s favorite songs, Lana Del Rey’s “Young and Beautiful” and Keri Hilson’s “Knock You Down.”

Moreover, he had everyone fly over for the party, at his expense, including Kim’s large family and all her friends. His friends were also present, of course.

Insiders describe the proposal and the engagement party as the “most romantic ever.” It might have cost Kanye a fortune but, considering that TMZ reports that reality TV cameras were present, it’s safe to say Kim is about to recoup on that when her engagement special airs on E!.
