“We don’t have a category” for reality stars, no chance, says spokesperson for the HCC

For years, Kim Kardashian has been trying to convince the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce to break their own no-reality-stars rule and give her a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame but, as a spokesperson puts it, she’d be better off if she hoped for something more likely.

Earlier this month, in what is now considered his most epic interview ever, rapper beau Kanye West went on Jimmy Kimmel to say that the HCC was out of date for not putting reality stars on the Walk of Fame because Kim really deserved it.

In fact, not giving her her own star was a sign of how out of touch they were with the modern celebrity culture, Kanye tried to argue.

Even if that’s the case, she’s not getting it, Ana Martinez of the HCC says: Kim needs to actually do something to deserve a star, just being famous for fame’s sake is not enough.

“We don’t have reality stars on the Walk of Fame. We don’t have a category for it. We’re happy to consider reality stars once they get nominated for, or win, an Emmy, a Grammy, an Oscar. We’ll consider them when they’re legitimate actors or singers,” Martinez says, as cited by Us Weekly.

Ouch. Still, the HCC spokesperson appreciates Kanye for campaigning for Kim because, if anything, it’s proof that he wants the best for her.

“I know he loves her, and it’s all very sweet. But she doesn’t qualify,” she says. Even if she did qualify, Kim first has to be nominated, which she never was.

“I hate to say it, but a lot of people just don’t like her. No one has ever nominated her,” the HCC spokesperson stresses.

Kanye is probably on the phone right now, seeing what he must do to get Kim nominated.
