So says Guerrilla Games

The PlayStation 3 is one of the most powerful game consoles out there and even though it has the highest price tag of the current generation, it still manages to sell units. We've heard Sony say that its product will remain on the market for over 10 years, meaning that in terms of games, developers have barely scratched the surface, and they will continue to make more interesting titles.

Such is the case with first-party studio Guerrilla Games, which has recently released its first PS3 title, the eagerly anticipated but long-awaited Killzone 2. The game was released after the holiday rush of sequels, and has managed to move a fair amount of units all around the world.

Given the fact that the first Killzone appeared for the PlayStation 2, The Gamer Access has talked with a few executives from Guerrilla asking them whether or not the next Killzone game will wait for the next PlayStation console in order to truly take things to the next level.

Not so, according to the senior producer of the second game, Steven Ter Heide, who revealed that: “PlayStation 3 has a very long life ahead still, and we’re certainly not done developing for this platform. We still see enough opportunities to get better and pushing the platform even further.”

His statement is backed by the director of the game, Mathijs de Jonge, who said that: “We now have a very strong and solid engine. And equally important, our in-house tools have been further improved as well which allows our staff to worry less about how to implement something rather than what to implement.”

So it seems that we will see more shooters from the development studio in the future for the PlayStation 3. Hopefully the team will try to shorten its development time, since, if we're going to wait another 4 years, Killzone 4 will certainly be made for the PS4.
