Coming via Best Buy

There's a lot of pressure on Sony to cut the price of its flagship console, the PlayStation 3 by 50 or even 100 dollars. There were rumors that the reduction would be announced at the E3 trade show, which took place in early June but Sony did not say a word on the subject.

Now, analysts and even game developers are stating that they would like to see a cut in the price of the home gaming console by the end of the year. Still, Sony is not providing any confirmation and seems to be employing a tactic of offering bundles in an effort to increase the sales of its product.

The Best Buy employee who spotted the new bundle says that it will contain an 80 GB hard drive PlayStation 3 gaming console and two games: Metal Gear Solid 4 and Killzone 2.

Metal Gear Solid 4 was released last year and tells the story of an aging Solid Snake who must complete one more mission to make sure that the world is safe. The game was lauded for the gameplay and equally loved and hated for the complex and long cut scenes put together by the team of developers.

Killzone 2 was released earlier this year and offers players a chance to take part in the invasion of the Helghast home planet. The game is a straight up shooter that manages to show off the power of the PS3.

The price of the whole bundle is said to be 399 dollars, which means that you basically get the two blockbuster games for free when buying a PlayStation 3. At the moment, it's not sure whether only Best Buy will get this bundle or whether it will be found at all big retailers.

It's a good deal for those who are looking to get Metal Gear Solid 4 or Killzone 2 but a bundle like this cannot have the same impact as a full blown price reduction. Still, it manages to buy Sony some time to consider its next move.
