A true system seller, says Sony

The month of February and the beginning of March saw a pretty heated match between the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360, each receiving its own exclusivities, either in full-game form, like Sony's Killzone 2, or as DLC, with the Xbox 360's The Lost and Damned episode for Grand Theft Auto IV.

While we've already seen Microsoft's Aaron Greenberg boast about the fact that if The Lost and Damned had been launched in retail stores, it could have beaten Killzone 2 in terms of sales, now Sony's VP of Product Marketing, Scott Steinberg, has taken the stage to back up the sci-fi shooter.

He talked with Videogamer and revealed that not only that Killzone 2 made people who bought the PlayStation 3 for other features try it out, but it also made Xbox 360 gamers want to have a high-quality shooter experience on the Japanese console.

“We feel that Killzone 2 is a tremendous exclusive,” said Steinberg. “It's an exclamation point that demonstrates the distance between the PS3 and other systems. The game is 40 Gigs and could not be done on anything else. It will move people from the sidelines, and from what we've seen from blogs, will push 360 owners to try out the PS3. I think it's going to be a major launch for us and this historical PlayStation brand.”

While Killzone 2 is a great shooter, Steinberg may have overreacted a bit just to beat Greenberg in terms of statements. Hopefully more high-quality titles will arrive for all platforms, be it PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 or even PC or Wii, and we will all enjoy some great experiences playing them.
