Cyber Ai Entertainment could work with, or against Sony

Before the PlayStation 3 could be what it is today, it had to surpass a lot of obstacles, and it's none other than the very "Father of the PlayStation" that helped it get past those mounds of adversity. But Ken Kutaragi is no longer part of Sony, after he stepped down from the SCE Group executive position in 2007. One year before he took his final bow in Sony, Kutaragi was "promoted" to this position, a very dubious one, as a matter of fact, considering that, before he received this great honor, he was the president of Sony Computer Entertainment.

But, as he proved in the past, he is not someone that can be kept down, and Kutaragi is well back on his feet and proving he still has a word to say in the industry. According to Edge Online, the former president of SCE has announced the birth of a new company, his new one. Cyber Ai Entertainment is a networks technology company in Tokyo, and, according to the Japanese Nikkei news service to whom Kutaragi spoke, Cyber Ai Entertainment will "initially focus on research and development relating to information processing, targeting cutting-edge networking operations."

The amount of direct involvement that his company will have with the gaming industry remains to be seen, but, if he does decide to become part of the dance, he will most certainly win. At the moment, he's also the acting CEO of Cellius, a game developer company located in Shibuya, Tokyo. The company was founded in 2007 and is a joint project by Sony and Namco Bandai. As such, if most people would believe that there are some hard feelings between Sony's current management and Kutaragi, the apparent collaboration between the two would dismiss these speculations.

As he declared himself, Cyber Ai Entertainment will mainly focus on networking processes and applications, and, if he will indeed share the fruits of his labor with his former passion, the PlayStation, then Sony would have only to gain. But, if Kutaragi would enter as a competitor for Sony, that would indeed be a thing to be seen, as, this time around, the gaming community would be the one to profit the most from their rivalry.
