Gran Turismo 5 was a grand attempt at creating a racing game that could be all things to all players and in many ways the game failed to deliver but the team behind the franchise is already working on the next game in the series and plans to set everything right.

Kazunori Yamauchi, who is the leader of developer Polyphony Digital, has told IGN during an interview that the team is already working on Gran Turismo 6, planning and creating new features that represent “something that we can’t update through a DLC.”

The executive has also addressed what kind of downloadable content will be delivered for Gran Turismo 5, saying, “Now we have the feedback from our customers and we’ll see how that will affect what we will do from here.. Things that we can provide through DLC we will, so that’s really the market difference.”

Upcoming releases will mean more cars to race with and also new courses to test them on, with Yamauchi saying that the course for the Dubai 24 hours race might be soon made available.

Bryan Heitkotter, who started out playing Gran Turismo games, is now a professional driver with Nissan and he is set to take part in the Dubai race in January, with Yamauchi saying that he should be able to practice the race in GT 5.

The veteran racing game developer also talked about his racing skills, saying that he aims to drive as many of the cars included in the Gran Turismo series as possible, but he does not have the time to actually try them all out.

Yamauchi was present at the Specialty Equipment Market Association in Las Vegas, looking at the new equipment and modifications that will be introduced in the coming year so that Polyphony Digital can simulate them and include in the game at some point.
