Sony and Polyphony Digital, the companies behind last year's Gran Turismo 5 racing game, have detailed just what's included in the upcoming Spec 2.0 update, which brings improvements like faster loading times as well as new options and content, like the possibility of using the interior view in all standard cars.

Gran Turismo 5 impressed a lot of racing game fans with its high quality simulator mechanics and great visuals, but hasn't really received that much new content in recent times, except for various patches and updates.

Now, as we heard last month from the creator of the series, Kazunori Yamauchi, a massive Spec 2.0 update is coming, and has just been detailed by Sony and its Polyphony Digital studio.

First and foremost, the update brings quite a few improvements to loading times, while simplifying the racing experience with a more streamlined user interface. You can also save during a race, as well as save multiple car settings in a 'setting sheet'. The AI in the Arcade mode can now be adjusted manually, as can the weather conditions for races with a new slider that goes from mild to severe.

New features are also included in Spec 2.0, like the ability to use the interior view in all cars, not just select ones. What's more, players can now race with 11 new NASCAR vehicles, as well as the Nissan GT-R N24 model.

The Photo Mode has also been updated to allow players to take pictures of their personalized driver avatars (like the one above), and new customizable racing suits and helmets are included. Players can also fast forward or rewind race replays to get that perfect shot.

The game will also support the Logitech G25 and G27 steering wheels, thanks to the new update.

After Spec 2.0 is out for Gran Turismo 5, completely free, new downloadable content will be released in the following weeks, including new vehicles, tracks and "additional surprises."

Gran Turismo 5 Spec 2.0 is out on October 11.
