14 DAY TRIAL // They were, at the time they started dating, one of the most unlikely couples in showbiz, and they remain so to this day. However, contrary to ongoing rumors, Katy Perry and Russell Brand are still very much together.
The two announced their engagement only months after going public as a couple, and actually tied the knot shortly after.
Perhaps because of this and partly because of his reputation as a womanizer, many rushed to say they would only last a few months as husband and wife.
About a year after they were married, they’re still together, but they can’t seem to ditch rumors of an imminent breakup.
Katy’s latest tour has provided the tabloid media with plenty of occasions to say that she and Russell were having serious marital issues, especially since it kept her busy enough to prevent the paparazzi from photographing them together out and about as often as before.
Upset that there’s so much speculation about the state of her marriage, Katy is taking to Twitter to lash out against the tabloids and celebrity blogs that constantly plant stories about the breakup.
“Just cause we don’t flaunt our relationship doesn’t mean there’s something wrong w/it. Privacy is our luxury. #tabloidsrtrash #gossipisgross,” Perry writes.
Russell Brand takes an equally firm stand, also on Twitter, though he adds that he’s out of touch with tabloid stories since he’s mostly focused on the media scandal that is now shaking up Britain – and which has already led to the demise of the News of the World tab.
“You tell em Mrs Brand! In Britain we’re currently dismantling the scum media so I’m not tuned in to their brain-[expletive]-ing,” the comedian writes.
This is officially the first time that Katy and Russell deign to deny rumors of trouble in paradise in their marriage – and also the first time in weeks they’ve been photographed together.
