Katy Perry dedicates Grammys 2011 performance to all lovers on Valentine’s Day
Katy Perry dedicates Grammys 2011 performance to all lovers on Valentine’s Day

Many of Katy Perry’s performances include at least one type of sweets, be it jelly, or lollipop or ice cream or cotton candy. At last night’s Grammy Awards 2011, held at the Staples Center in LA, it was all about love and heart-shaped objects.

Katy kicked off her 2-song number by sitting on a swing, decked in a princess-like dress with a train so long that it was also used to make a back screen from it.

As the pop star launched into her “Not Like the Movies,” she was lifted high up in the air. To the surprise of the audience, footage from her wedding to Russell Brand started to play on the back screen.

This was the first time that photos of video from the wedding were seen.

At the same time, it was obviously the most public declaration of love that Katy made to Russell, whom she married late in 2010 in a very exclusive ceremony held in India, away from the prying eyes (and cameras) of the paparazzi.

As she descended with the swing, it became clear that Katy would also be performing another song – as the video below will confirm.

Once with her feet on the ground, the pop star ripped off her dress (the train only, of course), to reveal a custom-made Giorgio Armani pink dress and matching shoes, the former covered in little sparkly hearts.

She set off to dedicate the song to all lovers celebrating Valentine’s Day today. And it was only fitting that she did so, since she sung “Teenage Dream.”

Dancers filled the stage, pushing halves of lit hearts and Katy did what she does best, entertaining the crowd. Glimpses of the stars in the audience revealed they were all on their feet, dancing to the song and even mouthing the words.

All in all, a typical Katy Perry performance, complete with elaborate stage props, dancing and some hiccups in terms of live singing.
