Each year, the Angels walk the catwalk in what is known as the most extravagant, colorful and nice to look at event of the year: the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. Katy Perry led the pump this year.

The pop star opened the show with a medley of songs – and also made an appearance with co-performer Akon at the end of it, The Improper informs.

Though known for her outrageous outfits that leave little to the imagination – though not as revealing as one may be tempted to believe – Katy was actually a bit overdressed for the occasion.

Still, she kept true to the color theme of the night, teaming her colorful attire with plenty of glitter.

To open the show, she went for a purple number and matching shoes and headdress, while singing the inspiring “Firework” hit single.

She was followed by the Victoria’s Secret Angels modeling the latest collection, justly described as an explosion of color.

“Katy Perry was at her California Gurls best for the 2010 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show in New York, opening the show with a rousing medley of her current hit songs, followed by a parade of ‘angels’ led by veteran model Alessandra Ambrosio,” The Improper writes.

As noted above, Perry wasn’t the sole performer of the night, as Akon also took to the stage to sing his song “Angel” during the “Heavenly Bodies” section of the show.

“The shows had all the frills and pageantry of previous years, but with some notable exceptions. Top model Heidi Klum bowed out from the show after 13 years and notable models Doutzen Kroes and Miranda Kerr were out on baby duty,” the aforementioned publication writes.

Video of Katy Perry’s performances are not yet available in full. However, the entire Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show will air on November 30 at 10 p.m. on CBS so keep an eye out then to check her out.
