When Kanye West took to the stage earlier this year to interrupt young country singer Taylor Swift as she was about to say her acceptance speech for Best Female Video at the Video Music Awards, little did he know he was about to enter the competition for the king of FAIL for 2009. Users of the popular website FailBlog have just named the biggest FAIL celebrity and biggest FAIL moment and, not surprisingly at all, Kanye West lands first in both.

With an impressive score of 37 percent of all users’ votes, Kanye West’s interruption of Taylor Swift at the VMAs ranks first as the most memorable FAIL moment of the year that is about to end. For those not in the know, it was the words, “Yo Taylor. I’m really happy for you. I’m gonna let you finish but Beyonce had one of the best videos of all time. One of the best videos of all time!” that helped the rapper take down a page in history, albeit that was not his intention.

Moving on to the top 10 most memorable FAIL people, Kanye also lands the top position, though it’s with fewer votes: about 16 percent of the total. Jon Gosselin, also named by some US publications as the “biggest douche” to make headlines this year, secures the number 2 spot with 12 percent of the users’ votes. Glenn Beck and gossip blogger Perez Hilton take up number 3 and 4, with 12 and 11 percent of the votes respectively.

OctoMom Nadya Suleman gets 10 percent of the votes for the controversy she created in the media after the birth of her octuplets, which brought the number of her children up to 14. Chris Brown follows close behind with 9 percent for beating up former girlfriend Rihanna, while Heidi Montag and Specer Pratt get 7 percent of the votes for, well, simply being their annoying selves.

Lindsay Lohan lands at number 8 in the FAIL people chart, also with 7 percent, while disgraced Miss California Carrie Prejean gets 5 percent of the votes for her stance on same gender marriage. Fugitive film director Roman Polanski rounds up the chart with 4 percent of the votes.
