The movie based on Eidos' Kane and Lynch game has lost its director, according to LatinoReview. Simon Crane was set to direct the film that should have started production this August. Unfortunately, the production studio and the ex-stunt coordinator could not work out their differences, so Crane has quit. This was supposed to be his directorial debut.

The film is being written by Kyle Ward and will follow the two misfit anti-heroes as they retrieve a stolen microchip. Adrian Askarieh and Daniel Alter are producing the motion picture and Bruce Willis will give life to Adam Kane Marcus, a dangerous mercenary, while Jamie Foxx will play James Lynch, a psychotic murderer. It has been rumored that, currently, the producers are negotiating with Wayne Kramer, director of Crossing Over and Running Scared, to take over in Crane's stead.

The movie is not the only new title in development for the Kane and Lynch franchise. Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days is the latest installment in the video-game series and is developed by IO Interactive and published by Eidos Interactive, now a subsidiary of Square Enix. This sequel will change the visual style of the previous game, focusing on a more realistic look inspired by documentary films and shaky-cam movies. This time around, the story will be presented from Lynch's perspective, focusing more on his part in the adventure.

The Fragile Alliance multiplayer mode is back in, as well as the possibility to play the single-player campaign in co-op through split-screen or the Internet. A new addition is the Arcade Mode, where two players work with other seven AI-controlled armed criminals to obtain money and fight the Chinese Police. If not enough money is gathered, the AI will start killing the human-controlled characters. Kane and Lynch 2: Dog Days is to be released on the 24th of August in North America and on the 27th of August in Europe on the Xbox 360, the PlayStation 3 and the PC.
