A career in television is the natural and, by all chances, the only possible, next step for Jon Gosselin. Now that his claim that TLC was exploiting his eight children by shooting “Jon & Kate Plus 8” effectively blocked production on the reality show, it’s clear that he can’t make his upcoming project about the children. So, Mr. Gosselin has directed his attention towards Amazing Race or Survivor, Radar Online has learned.

Speculation initially had it that Gosselin would do a reality show called “Divorced Dads’ Club,” which would focus on his and his friends’ life. Michael Lohan, Lindsay Lohan’s father, was also believed to be cast in it. The show, as we also reported on previous occasions, would show Jon trying to be a father to his eight children in the aftermath of the divorce, while also including his current girlfriend, Hailey Glassman. Since Jon cried wolf too many times about his kids, he can’t put them in his show anymore.

However, sources say, he’s set on making a name for himself on television, which is why he’s currently working to get himself on Survivor or Amazing Race, both of which are, as we all know, shows with high ratings but that also require the contestants to be in top physical shape. “Jon is planning to fly to Los Angeles in late November for a meeting about appearing on one of the shows. Nothing is a done deal yet. This is in the very early stages.” an unnamed source who claims to be familiar with Gosselin’s plans tells Radar.

Aside from keeping his name in the media and offering him the chance to win the big prize, taking part in either of these competitions would also put money in Gosselin’s pocket, money that he needs badly now that he’s just returned the $180,000 he took from the family’s bank account. Jon Gosselin doesn’t come cheap, though, as we also reported the other day, and whoever wants to use his image, name or person for a show must be prepared to pay the asked price.

For instance, just the other day, Gosselin’s rep told a Florida radio station that he had to be paid a $12,000 attendance fee for a one-hour show. The host of the radio show had contacted the rep, telling him Jon would get two first-class tickets, a luxury hotel suit and limo ride to and fro, but the offer was deemed insignificant, as compared to the kind of exposure Jon’s presence on the show would bring.
