After spending Christmas with his now ex-wife Kate Gosselin and their eight children, Jon Gosselin returned to his New York apartment to find that someone had ransacked it and destroyed valuable property, as we also reported the other day. Mr. Gosselin’s former girlfriend Hailey Glassman has already been questioned by police and has denied all involvement, but Gosselin’s attorneys are not convinced.

According to INF Daily, citing inside sources that choose to remain anonymous, even as Glassman’s rep is denying any involvement in the break-in, saying she would have no motive to break into her own place (they used to share rent for it) and would never stoop so low as to commit a felony, Gosselin’s attorneys are out to prove the contrary. As of now, there is no case against Glassman, but the fact that her split from Jon was not exactly on the best of terms and that the note found on the scene had her signature on it seem enough to convince them she might have played some part or another.

“Reality TV dad Jon Gosselin’s life seems to be going from bad to worse these days. Jon claims his bachelor pad in Manhattan was ransacked, possibly by his ex Hailey Glassman, at the weekend. She strongly denies any involvement... but Jon's lawyers seem to think otherwise. Whatever happens, someone is in deep trouble. And if it was all stage-managed by dad of eight Jon, he could be facing jail time away from his kids if it’s all proved in a court of law,” INF writes.

Whether Glassman had anything to do with the break-in or Jon himself orchestrated it to garner the publicity that has been obstinately avoiding him these past weeks is up to the police to find out, once the investigation concludes. As far as Gosselin is concerned, he insists he’s completely heartbroken by the incident, saying in a press statement released yesterday (via his attorney) that he would have never expected such a horrible thing to happen to him right around Christmas.

“The greatest damage from this vicious, mean spirited and heartless crime was perpetrated not on Jon’s property and possessions, but on Jon Gosselin himself, who experienced a traumatic, emotional, roller coast ride having just shared a joyful family gathering with his children during their Christmas Celebration and the last thing that Jon contemplated when entering his New York City apartment, on what is supposed to be a Season that heralds in peace and goodwill, was to be devastated by such a cruel and cold-blooded act that was apparently intended to cut to his heart,” attorney Mark Heller said in a statement released yesterday.
