14 DAY TRIAL // Johnny Depp and Amber Heard made their first public appearance as a couple in April, months after word got out that they might be romantically involved. A new report explains why they finally decided to go public.
The two former co-stars are engaged, The National Enquirer writes in its latest print issue (story via EntertainmentWise).
Johnny got down on one knee and popped the question on Amber’s birthday, meaning in April, just shortly before they were photographed holding hands at the Rolling Stones concert.
“He proposed on her birthday [April 22],” an inside source reveals for the publication.
“They’re not announcing it until the end of the year, but she and Johnny are now on the hunt for a vintage one-of-a-kind ring,” adds the same tipster.
After they got engaged, Amber also urged Johnny to stop hiding and go public. Fans must know that romance rumors have been around since 2011, when they worked on “The Rum Diary” together.
Depp split from longtime partner and mother of his children Vanessa Paradis in June 2012, which marked a boost in reports that Amber had been “the other woman” in the messy breakup.
They’ve been on and off ever since, with Depp going to extremes in recent weeks to make her understand how special she is to him.
“She gave him an ultimatum, no woman wants to be someone’s dirty secret. A few months ago she took off to Paris and started dating French model Marie de Villepin. He offered her everything, even marriage, to come back,” another source says for the aforementioned media outlet.
“That was exactly what Amber wanted – for the world to know they’re together and for Johnny to put a ring on it. She’s had a crush on him since she was a teenager, so this is a dream come true!” adds the spy.
