Electronic Arts is an extremely important publisher, owning a lot of big money marking franchises like Need for Speed or FIFA. But one of the biggest, at least in North America, is its Madden NFL one, which generates huge sums every year it is launched.

Bearing the name of famous NFL player and commentator John Madden, the series has enjoyed a lot of success. But as you may know, the former athlete recently retired in order to spend more time with his family.

But this isn't a bad thing, at least according to the president of EA Sports, Peter Moore, who revealed to Kotaku that, thanks to his retirement, the franchise would actually grow even more as the famous player could offer his input and work together with the team at EA Tiburon.

“Probably gets better, because now John is home, in the Bay Area, where we're headquartered,” said Moore, when asked how the franchise would be affected by Madden’s retirement. “And in fact our team is there with him right now. He has a production company in the East Bay and I'm spending more time with him because he's not traveling anymore.”

Talking about things in the long run, Moore revealed that the license would continue “for quite a while,” and that “If you said to me that once I'm gone there's a video game that lives on with my name, there's certainly achievements with my name on already, so it might be a fitting legacy. I don't think anymore that people would think it would be weird if when ultimately he's no longer with us that the game carries on.”

So, you should not worry, American football and Madden NFL fans, as the franchise will continue to live on for quite some time, and will bring EA even more money.
