Jessica Simpson and Eric Johnson have been together for 5 months, but the singer is definitely head over the heels – and not afraid to proclaim her love to the world.

In a recent interview with People magazine, Simpson couldn’t stop gushing about her current boyfriend, saying he was her best friend and the only man she loved, PopEater informs.

“After taping a PBS holiday special this week (on which she’ll sing music from her upcoming Christmas album), Jessica Simpson didn’t hold back about how her current relationship is going,” PopEater says.

“As far as Eric and I go, we’re just best friends. He’s my dude! I love him,” Jessica gushed to People, as the same celebrity-oriented e-zine notes.

Jessica and Eric began dating in May this year but, until just recently, he was still a married man since his divorce hadn’t been pronounced final, PopEater points out.

This would explain why Jessica is suddenly so talkative about the relationship – and why she wasn’t so before, when Eric was still legally married to his wife of 5 years, from which he separated in October last year.

“This [relationship] is just normal, thank God. He’s very, very supportive... Couldn’t ask for a better man in my life right now,” Jessica says, when asked to describe her relationship with Eric.

Pressed for more details, though, the singer backs out and refuses to say whether she believes Eric is “the one” for her.

“I’m not gonna jinx my own self. He’s the one for me right now! I’m very happy. I’m in a great place, and if right now could last forever, I’d take it,” Jessica says trying to avoid the question but answering it nonetheless.

Perhaps Jessica has learned from her past mistakes, which is why she’s no longer talking in absolute terms about her romantic relationships, word in the blogosphere has it.

After divorcing Nick Lachey, Jessica repeatedly tried to get her life back in order and reportedly even to start a family, but all those affairs ended suddenly.

Just last summer, the singer was “dumped” by Tony Romo after she started pressing him to get married and have kids, reports said at the time.
